What to Wear: Business Portrait Sessions

Investing in a professional business portrait is an excellent way of connecting with current and potential clients. Having a portrait that illustrates your best “you” will speak volumes about your business and you.

Business portraits are generally a head and shoulder image. Silhouette Photography offers both indoor and outdoor portrait options for business portrait sessions. Our studio is located in Trail Dust Town, offering our clients the largest outdoor studio in Tucson. Owner and Photographer, Ray Mansouri, is also available for on-location portrait sessions, if you would like to be photographed at your office or a specific location.

What you wear for your business portrait is incredibly important. You want to wear clothing that does not take attention away from your face. When deciding what to wear, first dress in a fashion that best represents you and your company.

Formal Business Portrait:

Dress as you would when meeting with an important client. Medium to dark solid colors photograph the best. If you wear a white dress shirt, make sure to wear a suit jacket that is dark in tone on top. Your clothes should be pressed and fit well.

Contemporary Portrait:

For a more casual business portrait, you still want to wear something that looks dapper and chic. We recommend a blazer or sweater over a button-down blouse or shirt. Three-quarter length to long sleeves are most flattering. Always avoid colors that match skin tones. Medium to dark, or vibrant solid colors photograph best. If you are wanting to wear a vibrant color, we recommend teal, forest green, royal purple, blue and navy for outdoor portraits.

For Women:

Keep your accessories and jewelry simple. Makeup should be applied slightly heavier than normal, as you would for a evening out. If you do not typically wear makeup, make sure to at least use powder to reduce shine, mascara, blush and lip color.

For Men:

Have your hair cut a week before your appointment. Make sure to shave early on the morning of your shoot.

Lastly, smile.
